The Nicoma Park Police Department is seeking dedicated men and women who want serve as Police Officers in our community. Service as a Police Officer will offer you training, challenge, excitement, teamwork, opportunities for special assignments and personal reward.

 

 

 

 

After completing the CLEET Academy and our Field Training Officer (FTO) program, Officers are assigned to patrol for shift duty.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years old and a citizen of the United States.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • A valid Oklahoma driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
  • Must NOT have a felony or domestic violence conviction or have pending criminal charges.
  • Must NOT be a present or recent user of controlled substances or have a DUI, DWI or reckless driving violation within the last five (5) years. * Random drug testing is performed on all Officers and without notice.
  • Must pass a strength and agility test, pre-employment exam, psychological test (MMPI), interviews and extensive background investigations.
  • Must be able to produce all documents required by CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training) and successfully complete a 245 hour Reserve Academy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Enforce state and federal laws, city ordinances and traffic laws.
  • Patrol the city, checking buildings, businesses, residences, etc. for suspicious activity and handle situations according to policy and procedure.
  • Direct traffic in congested and emergency areas, report safety hazards, respond to scenes of accidents, administer first aid, investigate cause and file accident reports, issue citations to violators of traffic laws.
  • Investigate crime scenes, interview witnesses, victims and potential suspects, search for and preserve evidence, make oral or written reports such as, criminal complaints or narrative reports and testify in court.
  • Make arrests on criminal and traffic related offenses, execute search warrants and arrest after obtaining sufficient evidence to arrest.
  • Must fulfill a minimum monthly commitment of sixteen (16) hours of duty per month.
  • Must attend monthly Reserve Officer meetings and training sessions above and beyond 16 hour commitment.
  • Extra-duty assignments such as drug interdiction, ERT (Emergency Response Team), SRO (School Resource Officer), Training Coordinator, Warrant Service, etc., are highly encouraged, if and when eligibility requirements are met.
